Drake Institute of Research and Policy Introduces its 2020 National Ambassadors

Washington, D.C.—The Drake Institute of Research and Policy recently announced the appointment of eight women to its 2020 cohort of national ambassadors. The ambassadors will officially begin their year of service on January 1, 2020. 

Among those selected was Marilyn Yang, a finance associate at Castle Harlan, a NYC-based private equity firm. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Marketing, and Strategic Management from the Wharton School. 

Dr. Delis Cuellar Klitzke from Orange County, California was also appointed to serve as a national ambassador for the Drake Institute. She holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and is currently a researcher at the University of Wisconsin.  

Aspiring actress Kendra Allen from Los Angeles, California will also serve as a national ambassador. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management and has built a career in the real estate industry.

Hannah Dougherty, the Executive Director of Talent Acquisition and Marketing was also among those selected to represent the Drake Institute. She holds a Master in Education and Sports Administration degree and is the founder and president of GenUp Sports, a nonprofit organization in Dallas, Texas. 

Rutgers University alumnae Nicole Russo from New Jersey was selected, as well. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain and works as the Sales Planning Manager at AeroFarms. 

Desiree Jacobs, a resident of Houston, Texas will spend her year helping the Drake Institute raise awareness about issues related to environmental health, with a particular interest in researching causes and treatments for asthma. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts and Communications and currently works as a Realtor at John Daugherty Realtors.

 Jillian Pizzi, a national ambassador from Boston, Massachusetts has interests in promoting awareness around workplace discrimination and mental health. She holds a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and is a licensed mental health practitioner and published author. She owns and operates her own private mental health practice. 

Congressional staffer, Candace Johnson, is a Drake Institute of Research and Policy national ambassador based in the greater Washington, D.C. area. She holds both a Master of Science in Public Relations and Master of Arts in International Relations from Syracuse University. 

The 2020 Drake Institute of Research and Policy National Ambassadors were selected from a highly competitive pool of candidates and participated in a rigorous vetting process that included an online candidate screening application, on-camera interview and speech reading, background check, and verification of academic credentials. They will play a critical role in the implementation of the Drake Institute’s 10-city public engagement initiative.
