Marilyn Yang | National Ambassador | New York, New York

It comes as no surprise that finance remains a male-dominated industry, and I have continued to be active in supporting other females who are interested in a finance career, and currently actively mentor and tutor female college students nationwide who are seeking investment banking internships and jobs.”

Marilyn Yang, a native of Northern Virginia, is currently an Associate at Castle Harlan, a NYC-based middle market private equity firm founded in 1987. Previously, she was an Investment Banking Analyst at Barclays Investment Bank in the Global Industrials Group in New York City from June 2017 to August 2018. Marilyn’s prior finance industry experience also includes an internship in Summer 2016 in the Global Industrials Group at Barclays Investment Bank in New York City and in Summer 2015 as a Global Markets Intern in Commodity Trading at Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking in New York City.

Marilyn is a Class of 2017 Magna Cum Laude graduate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics and concentrations in finance, marketing, and strategic management. During a gap semester after graduating in December 2016, Marilyn was a Digital Marketing and PR Coordinator at Dreams on Air Showroom in Soho, New York. On campus, she was a Website and Communications Assistant at the Wharton School’s Mack Institute for Innovation Management. She also served as the CEO of the Penn Chapter of Smart Woman Securities and the Art Director of The WALK, the University of Pennsylvania’s student-produced fashion magazine. Previously, she held the positions of the VP of Marketing of the Wharton Private Equity and Venture Capital Club, the Editor in Chief of the Odyssey, a national publication for collegians, and the Public Relations Chair of the Theta Tau chapter of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Outside of her scholarly and professional pursuits, Marilyn enjoys fashion, film/TV (including extras work), Yelp! reviewing, playing tennis, visiting art museums, traveling, graphic design, and automobiles. She is currently a corporate volunteer for PENCIL, a New York City nonprofit that connects New York City public school students with business professionals, and is an active interviewer on the Penn Alumni Interview Program’s Wharton Virtual Interview Committee. Marilyn is also a private tutor for college students interested in finance careers, particularly in investment banking and private equity. As a female investment professional, Marilyn is passionate about helping to further female representation in traditionally male-dominated fields such as finance and STEM and advocating for work-life balance even in the most demanding of industries.
